Zodiac Stream is the astrology clock at zodiac.stream, the Zodiac Stream app, and the pages for readings, the school and mentorship. This page says what is kept about you, why, for how long, and what you can do about it.

Using the clock without a profile
You can use the clock, the charts, the map and the Stream without a profile. What you set up then (your place, your saved charts, your settings, journal entries written while signed out) stays on your own phone or computer, in the browser's or app's storage. It is not sent to us. Clearing the app or the browser's data removes it.
- Your location. If you tap "Use my location", your device asks you first. The position is sent to our server once, only to find the nearest town and its time zone, and is then kept on your device.
- Server logs. Like any website, our server writes a short log of each request: your IP address, the time, the address requested (which can include a town you searched for or a position) and your browser type. We use it only to keep the site running and safe. The logs are deleted after 14 days.
With a profile
When you create a profile, we keep what is needed to give you your profile on every device:
- your email address and name, and your password (stored only in a scrambled form we can't read back),
- the charts you save, including birth dates, times and places, and which one is your own chart,
- your settings (home location, house system, zodiac, planets shown, light or dark, colours, language),
- your journal entries, each with the moment, the place and the transits it was written under,
- your name in the Stream and the stories you share there,
- your marks and the lines and stories you send in the encyclopedia (below),
- whether you are a beta tester.
We keep this to provide the profile you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We don't sell it, don't show ads, and don't use tracking or analytics tools. Our fonts come from our own server, so no font company sees your visit.
Charts of other people. If you save someone else's birth data, please only do so if they would be comfortable with it.
Your journal
Your journal is private. Only you can read it in the app. If you switch on "Let Zodiac Stream learn from my journal", your entries may be read to understand how transits are lived, and later Zodiac Stream can comment on them. They are never made public. This is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and you can switch it off at any time in your profile. While it is off, nobody reads your entries. If you are under 16, please ask a parent before you switch it on.
The Stream
The Stream is public. Anyone can read the stories in an open room, shown with the name you chose for the Stream. When a room's transit separates, the room closes and its stories leave the public; they are kept for 14 days and then deleted. You can delete your own stories at any time. If people report a story, it can be hidden until it is looked at.
The encyclopedia
Anyone can mark the lines in the encyclopedia with ✓ (fits me) or ✗ (not me), with or without a profile. Each mark is kept with the facts of your own chart that the line is about: which signs and houses your planets are in and which aspects they make. Your birth date, time and place are not kept with it. Without a profile, your marks are linked to a random number kept in your browser, not to you by name. With a profile, they are linked to your profile, so you find them on every device.
The marks, counted together, show which lines fit which placements, and we use them to improve the encyclopedia. For your profile this is part of the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); for marks without a profile it is our legitimate interest in a better encyclopedia (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). No one's marks are shown to other people.
Lines and stories you send. Beta testers can send a line or a story about how a placement shows up in their life. Nothing you send is public until it has been read and approved. You choose whether it appears with your name, your initials or as anonymous. Approved lines and stories can be read by anyone, without the facts of your chart. If you want one taken down, write to us and we'll remove it.
The beta
If you join through zodiac.stream/beta, your profile is marked as a beta tester. That lets you send lines and stories to the encyclopedia. Nothing else changes, and you can ask to leave the beta at any time.
Free association
When you send a chain from Free association, it goes to Zodiac Stream with the names the players typed in, to be read and, if it fits, used to teach the encyclopedia. Chains are not made public.
Who can see what
Emilian Dobrev, who runs Zodiac Stream, can see in the site's admin: profiles' names and email addresses, how many charts they have saved (not the charts themselves), marks counted per line, lines and stories waiting for approval, sent Free association chains, and journal entries only of people who switched on "Let Zodiac Stream learn from my journal". Nobody else has access.
Emails
We send an email only when you ask for one: if you choose "Forgot password?", you get a link to choose a new password. The link works for one day and only once. We don't send newsletters or advertising.
Notifications
The app's notifications are planned and shown by your phone itself. No notification data is sent to us. If you reply to a notification, the reply goes into your journal like any other entry.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, and one that protects your profile from forged requests. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Other companies involved
- Hosting. The site and your profile live on a server rented from Hostinger, in a data centre in Manchester, United Kingdom. Hostinger processes the data only on our behalf. The United Kingdom is outside the EU, but the European Commission has decided that it protects personal data to the same standard (an adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR), so no further safeguards are needed.
- Payments. The payment buttons on the readings page take you to Stripe, who handle the payment under their own privacy policy.
- Email. The emails we send (password links) and the emails you write to us are handled by Apple (iCloud Mail).
- App Store. If you install the app, Apple handles the download under its own terms.
How long we keep things
Your profile and everything in it is kept until you delete it. Server logs are deleted after 14 days; closed Stream rooms after 14 days. Marks made without a profile have no name attached; clearing your browser's data cuts the link between you and them.
Deleting your profile
You can delete your profile at any time: open your Profile, tap Delete account and enter your password. This removes your name, email, saved charts, settings, journal, Stream stories, encyclopedia marks, the lines and stories you sent, and your Free association chains, at once. Charts that were only ever kept on your device stay there until you remove them. You can also write to us and we'll delete it for you.
Your rights
You can ask us what we keep about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how it is used or hand it over to you, and you can object to how it is used or take back your consent at any time. Write to emilian@zodiac.stream.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
Changes
If what we keep or how we use it changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
